harambe and your church
Thanks to all of our church partners who participated in Wesley College's first HARAMBE!
If you missed our April 25th online celebration, you can watch the recorded version here.
about harambe
Harambe in Swahili means ‘coming together.’ Harambe is also a community-based fundraising method in Tanzania. At a traditional Harambe, people gather to support a common cause. One-by-one participants announce their donations, contribute joyfully, and the group celebrates!
Wesley College, a United Methodist-affiliated institution, is hosting a virtual Harambe in April 2021. We invite you to join us, learn about Tanzania, and meet some of our students and staff. Together we will learn, worship, give, and celebrate! By coming together, we will form the next generation of faith-driven leaders for Tanzania.

about wesley college
Wesley College was founded in 2017. Already, graduates have started churches, begun new ministry programs, and helped their communities launch small businesses. Although still small, Wesley College's vision is large, and expanded support from generous US churches and individuals is needed. If you are new to our ministry, we hope you will learn more about the college here. You can also read stories of some of our inspiring staff and our passionate students.
how does harambe work?
In Spring 2021, HARAMBE will connect fundraising efforts in the US with fundraising efforts in Tanzania, led there by staff, board members, and local supporters. In a season when international travel will still be limited, HARAMBE promises to transport you through stories, videos, and interactive Zoom experiences. Churches who choose to participate will receive ready-to-use resources, making this an easy way to focus on a global mission, live out our call to stewardship, and expand impact.
HARAMBE will culminate with a live and celebratory online event on Sunday, April 25th. At 3pm Central Time, we invite participants to log in from around the United States. Participants will meet staff and students in Tanzania and celebrate progress towards our fundraising goal.

get involved
If you have a passion to impact lives of faith-driven young people hungry for higher education, we hope you will get involved. We invite you to participate as an individual or a member of a church.
For clergy and lay church leaders, we have prepared a Church Resource Guide with everything you need to get involved. You are also invited to contact Eric Soard via email or call him at 731-616-8506. Together, we can form more servant leaders for Tanzania.
